Day Summary

Woke at 4.30am, had breakfast and cup of coffee then raced off to have a shower, as time was against me. At 6.15am headed off to the Esk Rail Station with back pack and #gavinswaterbottle to meet the rest of the group.

For the actual walk see blog at Glasshouse Bushwalkers Blog

After the walk and upon advising the organisers of our safe return, we showered and changed and prepared for dinner at the local Esk Wivenhoe Motor Inn. The dinner was well worth waiting for as the chef was overwhelmed with the number of meals.

Then it was return to the caravan to catch up on blog writing and then bed.

Day Summary

Woke early, had breakfast then went and removed the items fro the caravan that were not needed. Then packed the essentials into the caravan. Put the caravan on the car and with Sue and Gemma went off to Esk Caravan Park. Arrived at the caravan park open up the van and went and had lunch. After lunch, Sue and Gemma, departed and Andy and Desley arrived. Set up the camp and then Gavin remembered to get screws to remount the door. Luckily Home Hardware was just across the road.

Remounted the door and after a brief interlude catching up on emails, social media etc. It was time to go over to Esk Park and have a BBQ meet and greet with fellow participants and support staff. Andy and I went off to the pub and noticed the main pub in town was closed down. A further walk of 200m and we came across the Club Hotel with its bottleshop. Bought a six pack of Pure Blonde and went back. A lovely BBQ was taken with lots of laughter with a scrumptious dessert. We received our packs containing blue powerade, hand sanitiser, almond and muesli ball, chupa-chup, lollipop, 3 x bandaids, almond and yoghurt sultanas, packet of tissues, and a raspberry cheesecake chocolate bar. Also in the pack was a certificate of joining…now get out and do it!, and the walk plan. We then left and took our chairs to the Esk Wivenhoe Motor Inn room no. 4 for them to be packed in the support vehicle and we have seats at each break point.

Back at the van, changed, showered and climbed into bed it was going to be a cold night.

Day Summary

Last day of work for the week. Yippee! It is great working in the new team. The supervisor and I go way back to the Qld Police Academy and the first trainee constables on Bribie Island many moons ago.

Went to do my post-breakfast BGL and there were no test strips. Knew there was something I had to do this morning!! (#gavinswaterbottle let out a smirk!). One of these days I am going to remember everything!!

Went to a divisional meeting and many issues were discussed, including the usual updates of work progress. This will be changed up. One of the attendees gave a spiel on emotional intelligence training she had received recently. All very interesting.

Had a meeting with George from Vision Gyms regarding holding a trek in the near future. Decided on a venue between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and he wished to have a 25km trek. Decided on early November 2016 as the timing. Now to consult for a suitable venue that will cater for 120 people to do it.

Emailed Charlotte with the update. Will send her a reply tomorrow that the plan is to have a variety of distances. I am going to gauge how the charity walk on Thursday to Saturday is managed and may pick up some pointers. I am hoping as well to collect a lot of donations! The 1 2 3 or 4 peaks walk needs my undivided attention so I can plan 5, 10, and 20 km distances to incorporate 1, 2, 3, or 4 peaks.

Packed my bags at work with the gear I need (or think I need!). Then headed home catching the earlier train.

Cold day with westerly wind.

Day Summary

Ready for a new week at work.

Woke to my alarm (very rare) and by the time I had fully waken up, I had half an hour to get going. So I turned the kettle on, put the oats in a bowl added 1/2 cup water and microwaved it ]for 90 seconds. Tis is the time it took the kettle to boil so within 2 minutes I had my breakfast. Then I sat down to eat it, took my blood glucose level before the first spoonful, and then enjoyed breakfast. I then had my coffee with my 2 x Lovan capsules and then proceeded to iron one pair of trousers and one shirt. Then it pelted down with rain.

I needed to re-think my approach to the day.

I did my usual day planning while attending calls of nature and the subsequent shower. I was planning on wearing my work clothes in these two days before having the rest of the week off to participate in a 100km walk (that’s 60 mile to you imperial measurers!) Now it is raining it is better to wear a change of clothes in so I can get into warm and dry clothes at work. Plan sorted. By the time I was packed, dressed and out the door, I was 10 minutes late. Luckily for me, I can head the bus off at meet it at a closer point after it has done a circuit. Which I did and made it and the normal day started.

The rest of the day was settling in to the new team and now to educate my new team members what my role entails and also learn about their roles.

Cold day with showers and cold westerly wind.

Day Summary

Up early and watched the fall-out, the speculation and analysis of the #Brexit vote result to leave. Will Scotland and Northern Ireland depart the United Kingdom? Scary thought about the prospects and the impacts on the rest of the world.

After being up early to have breakfast, went back to bed and awake in time for lunch!

Sue and two kids had gone to visit Sue’s mother. One kid was left at home to look after me…as if!

Caught up on preparations for the bushwalk tomorrow in the Noosa Hinterland.

Sue and two kids came home and then Gemma decided to go to Gabi’s for the night. So I drive her there, going to the IGA on the way. Gemma wanted the money I owed her for chores but as I had a new card and I “forgot” my phone and I could not remember my PIN!! So no money!

On the way back from dropping off Gemma needed a post box to post my postal vote. In the half dark could not see one, but as the main shops were shut went to the ones outside the Post Office. Could have sworn there were post boxes where I thought they were!

Day Summary

Cool start to the morning. My chest pain is waning, it is now just across the diaphragm instead the whole chest like yesterday.

Arrived at work and went to my new desk and then grabbed my drawers, phone and other sundry items from my old desk and did the swap over in 15 minutes. New digs are different, and closer to the kitchen so I can lug my lunch stuff to the kitchen and not eat at my desk any more. Then it was rime for the blood glucose test, and… WHAT!!… no tester… oh well go without today and have a look at it for the dinner reading.

Went out at lunch to get some stuff as I forgot to load with the lunch stuff at home this morning. Ran into Maurice so did a circuit of a couple streets for a leg-stretch. Good company for a walk, but I wish he’d find a woman!

Had my lunch in the kitchen, as a preparation for the move to the new building, when we have to eat in the cafe style area. Had Coke Zero with my lunch and YUCK! I haven’t drunk that rubbish in a few months and well maybe never again. Give me my homemade water with lemon infusion any time.

Back to the desk and the new environment. I am feeling awesome!!!

After work, walked to Roma Street Station via the George Street Post Office and checked the mail for Bushwalking Queensland Inc. and the missing statement was in the box. Also went to post my postal vote, but the gum has come unstuck. So brought that home to seal properly then post.

Caught the train and on arrival at Narangba stepped from the train to the bus. Then walked home from the bus stop 1.3km.

Day Summary

Overnight showers made it wet and cold. Up early to get the unit ready for inspection, when a commotion came from the girls bedroom, then Lauren burst out and vomited into the toilet after leaving a pile on the floor beside Stacey’s bed. And boy was she white in the face.

Moved stuff into the caravan, shed and linen cupboard. Then grabbed the gerni and set it up to give the toilet a clean, placing it in the bathroom. Checked that the gerni would reach the toilet from here, went and connected up. Having connected up the hose, the tap turned on and the connection let go. Water went everywhere and due to the fall of the bathroom floor, the water run out onto the hallway carpet. Just what is needed before an inspection. Oh well if the work is not liked the property manager can come back.

The work done and the property manager arrived. A new one. Here we go again, have to let her get acquainted with the unit. After a quick look, photos taken, etc. Off she went. That’s it!!

I went to bed for a nap, feeling dizzy, aching and coughing.

The rest of the day was keeping warm and then ferry kids home as the weather was poor.

Day Summary

Bit windy this morning. Great sunrise though.

Normal day at work, although getting into the changes that are in the air. Part preparing for our new building, but also the new team structure. Luckily I am always happy to be restructured. Keeps me sane!

The lunch-time BGL was low because of my lack of food till 1.00 pm and little food for morning tea in lieu.

I’m in the middle of getting my credit cards cancelled and having the debt consolidated for $130 per fortnight over 5 years. I can breathe easily now.

After work walked the 1.3 km to Roma Street Station and then 400m to the local fish and chip shop “Want The Food” and took home dinner.

Bit frosty this morning. Beanie worn to combat the westerly wind through the follicles on the top of my noggin. Its not even Ekka time…

At work, made a long black – crap coffee, so went out and bought a long black from Asana. Now I have two bins for my desk!

Then had a team meeting. Waiting, waiting, waiting for the bosses to turn up. Only 15 minutes late!!! Good team building exercise as we restructure. Looking forward to the future now!

Really happy with the estimated HbA1c result. Must keep up the good work and stay on the wagon.
